I view low sec (not 0.0) as the frontier, a place for pioneers to move into and develop. Take a look at the Networking Effect that Mr. Horizontal posted linkage too. He gave a name to the concept I am both trying to preserve and disperse. The main reason why -pilots- stay in high sec is because the equipment is there. The Traders stay in high sec because the pilots who buy ther goods are there.
then you view it incorrectly. lowsec is not there as a place to stay. low sec is there because you need something between empire controlled space and alliance controlled space. low sec is a place that is truly rule free. there's no concord enfored rules, and no alliance enforced rules. its a sandbox.
now, you know what happens when you put lots of kids in a sandbox and dont supervise them?
thats right: the big kids shove sand down the little kids shirts.
low sec is a pirate den, where people will kill you for nothing except the satisfaction knowing that someone, somewhere, is swearing.
i dont like associating with that kind of person, and i dont like being around them.
0.0 is the place you go to make epic profits, 0.0 is the place you try and move pilots to. not lowsec.
you will never be able to move people like me to low sec. there is reward for moving there, certainly, but the risk is and always will be far greater.
however, if you try to fource people to go, then something else happens: they stop playing. if you try and force people into a part of the game where they will get repeatedly owned by the local residents, they will stop playing. people dont play un-fun games. try to change EVE in this way would result in a lot of sub cancellations.
CCP knows this, and that's why, despite all the cries over the years about it, they will never change how NPC corps and high sec allow a certain amount of immunity to PvP. because they know that people can accept being ganked if the other person has to cop it on the chin to do so, but they will never accept people being allowed to kill them left right and center just because they prefer to manufacture and invent, rather then kill.
now, feelf ree to go on with this thread, but know that no matter what happens in here, CCP will never implement your original idea, because they know doing so could have dire IRL financial repercussions. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |
